OK, here's where I'm comfortable: fiction.
I know you never want to base any decision on made-up stuff, but myself, I need an example of what the scenario might look like. So, keep an open mind.
First; some scripture for a base to my fantasy.
God makes the point several times:
Deuteronomy 12:23 "Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh."
Leviticus 17:14 "For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off."
Deuteronomy 15:23 " Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water."
So, it's a fact that God forbids us to eat the blood, and immediately after killing the animal, the blood must be drained and poured on the ground. If you leave the blood in the dead meat, it will spoil the meat, making it inedible.
Hebrews 2:14 "....that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil."
So, my theory starts with, do not eat blood, pour it on the ground where it dies. The devil is in charge of death. How can Satan use these facts to fight against God?
What if our nemesis, Satan the Sadist, got most Christians to unwittingly eat dead blood? He would gain a huge advantage in the battle for people's souls.
So Satan develops Satan Soul Hooks. These are tiny ethereal bags of awful smelling cemetery dirt. These Hooks are in the food you eat, and as your soul departs your body, the Hooks stick to your aura, and you arrive at Heaven's gate smelling like putrid death. They can't let you go in. Score one for Satan. So, how do these Hooks get in your food? Satan, being in charge of death can mess with the dead blood cells, which is why Jewish butchers are so careful with the entire process of draining each newly dead cow or sheep, or any other clean animal.
Did you read the list of "unclean" animals? The "unclean" animals are either predators or scavengers. What does this have to do with dead blood?
Everything a scavenger eats is dead, so, for example, a mouse dies on a farm. There are now Satan Soul Hooks in the dead mouse. A rat comes along and eats some of the mouse. Now the mouse's Hooks are in the rat. The rat falls prey to an owl, now the owl has the Hooks of the mouse and the rat. REMEMBER, this is fiction. Now the owl roosts in the rafters above a pigpen. He gets sick and dies (probably something he ate). The dead owl falls into the pigpen, and you guessed it, Mrs Piggy eats it. Concluding with the pig having Hooks that carry the coffin aura from mouse, rat, owl, and pig. Pig goes to slaughter house, winds up as bacon on YOUR plate. You don't know any better, you eat that slimy festering pig fat with all those bags of ethereal grave dirt, and now they are waiting inside you. You are lucky, you can eventually become clear inside. In Leviticus, many scenarios and solutions are detailed.
Lev 11:27 "And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even."
Lev 17:14 "......Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off."
So, we know that by evening you will be clean, after touching the carcase. Many verses include going home, bathing, and washing your clothes.
I think that, being a religious person, your holy soul will overcome the devil's Hook spell.
And it probably takes about three hours, until evening.
The washing clothes and bathing remove any splashed blood from your person, keeping others safe. There is a difference for having the dead blood inside you; you will be expelled from the tribe. Because even if the 3-hour rule can work for ingested Hooks, each predator or scavenger you eat, you get their entire digestive tree along with the Mrs Piggy you ate.
What if it was an old swine, that ate dozens of rats and owls (and pigs will eat dead pigs) there could be thousands of branches on your digestive tree. At three hours per dead critter, it could take months to get clean.
Now, a great leap here; Gentiles joining the Jewish faith must wait a year to be initiated. They say it is to make sure the newbie learns all their laws and ceremonies, I think it's to give them time to get clean.
So, question, Why are you risking your soul on these nasty scavengers? Would you clean your baby's face with a dirty vacuum cleaner bag?
